Hawaii Interisland Airfare
Travelers who hope to visit more than one island on their dream vacation to Hawaii might want to look into interisland airfare. Although airfare is more expensive then a ferry, it is quite a bit quicker. This allows the traveler more time to relax in the warm waters of Waikiki or quest for the elusive Menehune. Return trips can generally be booked within the same day if necessary, for travelers who just need to hop over for a coral reef diving excursion.
Finding The Right Tour
There are hundreds of tours available throughout the Hawaiian islands, so finding the right one is of utmost importance. Nobody wants to blow $200 on airfare to an island for a tour that isn't that great to begin with. Look for tours with professionals, and not just island residents looking to make a few dollars on the side from tourists. These may cost a bit more, but it will pay off in the quality of your vacation.
Finding The Right Airline
A few airlines operate out of Hawaii, and the cheapest one is not always the best for a traveler. Some specialize in more than interisland airfare, which can lead to some pretty subpar service. Nobody wants to take an international airliner only a few miles away. The ticket price alone will cost as much as the vacation. Look at the capacity of the plane and estimate how long it would take for people to get inside. The larger the plane, means the worse choice for traveling just a few miles it is. A biplane crop duster operated by an ex-WWII airforce pilot may sound like a the perfect trip under these guidelines, but try to find someone a bit more professional.
Hawaiian Airlines
One of the better airlines in the world, not just Hawaii, is Hawaiian Airlines. Consumer Reports rarely get written about great airlines without a nod to this Hawaiian business. There should be no reason for a traveler to avoid this beyond cost. Then again, if cost is a consideration, a ferry might be a better choice.
